Elections Shift: PDP Reps Candidate Accuses APC of Rigging Plan

As reactions continue to trail the unexpected postponement of the Saturday, February 16 presidential and National Assembly polls, flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for House of Representatives,  Barkinladi/Riyom Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Dr. Simon Mwadko  has described the development as a ploy to rig the 2019 elections.

Mwadko stated this while addressing his supporters after the report announcing the postponement.

He said the postponement few hours before the commencement of the exercise is not acceptable.

Dr. Mwadwadon accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of hobnobbing with the ruling All Progressives Congress (INEC) to effect the disgraceful polls shift to perfect its rigging having faced with imminent do defeat on Saturday.

He frowned at the poor preparations of the electoral body who failed to complied  with the Electoral Act stipulating that sensitive voting materials be transported  to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in different states prior to the elections and publications of total numbers of voters in each state.

The aspiring lawmaker wondered why the umpire failed to track statistics of the sensitive materials that they brought to CBN instead of forcing a postponement on Nigerians.

"Definitely this is going to create voters apathy because here in Plateau, some people have traveled to South west and South east for this election, and as a businessman you don't expect them to stay in their villages for one week because of election before before coming back to oversee their businesses.

"During the time of former President Goodluck Jonathan, election was postponed because of insecurity, so if APC like, they postpone the election ten times, what is imminent is that they will be thrown out of office at the rescheduled poll  because Nigerians have made up their mind," he said.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate has appealed that the electorate be patience and calm in the face of this glaring conspiracy.

He lamented that huge resources have been deployed to the postponed elections.

"In my constituency, there are lot of IDP camps that were captured in their villages before their displacement and which we have taken the pains of transporting to their various villages to cast their vote; more than three hundred buses were used and now we have to go extra miles to source for resource and funds to repeat same exercise but we still appeal to our people to remain calm and vote for us in for all posts," he urged supporters.
