HONOURING THE LIVING FOR GREATER PRODUCTIVITY AND IMPACT FOR NATIONAL BUILDING, AN IMPERATIVE
Preamble:
My colleagues gentlemen of the Fourth Realm, I thank you very much for honouring us with your presence at this forum where we seek to expand the narrative of building our nation through the instrument of honouring our living heroes well ahead before they may be no more.
The Katsina Living Hero Award
As you know, it is becoming a state norm for the African society to accord honour on the dead; this, we believe stems from the respect that the dead must not be honoured and not criticized.
While respecting this view and holding it so sacrosanct, alongside sustaining the space for constructive engagement with powers that be; productivity and deepening impacts in governance, both in public and private service will only be achieved if we can learn to appreciate the living, especially while still actively productive.
No matter how well we may want to eulogize our founding fathers, their world and legacies would remain in the realm of the glorious past, from where they can do nothing on their own anymore.
Therefore, unless a new set of leadership is raised with honour and are appreciated for their good deed and contributions to nation building, we may have to revel in the glorious past for long without significant advancement and values.
This becomes so necessary in view of the receeding values and national mentorship through which the Nigerian youth and succeeding generations can model for career, patriotism and service growth and development.
In his book, “How to win friends and influence people ; Dale Carnegie aptly said: The resentment that criticism engenders can demoralise employees, family members and friends; and still not correct the situation that has been condemned."
There is therefore every wisdom in genuinely changing our tactics by appreciating leaders and individuals whose by act of service have added values to our nation.
Towards this end, Citizens Right and Leadership Awareness Initiative organisers of the Katsina State Living Hero Award” has identified the good work of His Excellency, “Governor Aminu Bello Masari” , the Katsina State governor, especially, in the advancement of inclusive and quality education in the state among other laudable achievements.
In addition, the platform will honour other Katsina men and women who keep sacrificing their all for the growth of the state, propagating peaceful coexistence and love among the people across boards.
The event will take place on 13th June, 2019 at Soli Centre, Katsina State by 6:00pm
