River State has no Land for Ruga Settlement --- Wike to FG .

- No part of Rivers state can be used for the Ruga settlement, according to Governor Wike

- Wike said the federal government can lay pipes from the Bonny Ocean to the far north for the herdsmen, as that is all the state has to offer

- According to the governor, the land in Rivers state is for commercial agriculture

Governor Nyesom Wike says Rivers state has no land to give for the proposed Ruga settlement scheme.

Speaking at the Government House in Port Harcourt when he received the founder and president of Throne-Room Trust Ministries, Apostle Nuhu Kure, Wike said no part of the state would be given to herdsmen.

According to him, Rivers state would not participate in any settlement programme for herdsmen, irrespective of the name given to it by the federal government.

“If they want water for the cattle, they can lay pipes from the Bonny Ocean to the far north for their cattle, that is what we can contribute. We don’t have lands for any settlement scheme, our land is for commercial agriculture,” he said.

Governor Wike insisted that no part of the state’s lands can be used for such ventures at any time.
