DSS Confirms Sowore's Arrest .

The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of human rights activist and former chairman of the African Action Congress party Omoyele Sowore.

Premium Times reports that the DSS issued the confirmation on Sunday, August 4 through its spokesperson Peter Afunanya.

Afunanya told journalists in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory that Sowore was arrested for reportedly making contacts with some foreign bodies with interests to destabilize Nigeria.

According to the report, the DSS however refused to say where Sowore is being kept and when he would be arraigned before the court.

Sources at the DSS reportedly said Sowore, who had been held incommunicado since Saturday, August 3, when he was arrested and detained, is in a high-security detention facility of the service in Abuja.

Sowore was arrested for organising the #RevolutionNow 'Days of Rage' protest to challenge bad governance in Nigeria.
