COViD-19:We Are Free From Coronavirus-Kebbi State

Kebbi State Government has again made it clear that the State is free from the Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic.

  

The clarification followed rumors and fake news on social media of suspected case in the State.   At a news briefing, last night in Birnin Kebbi, the Chairman, Taskforce on COVID-19 who is the Commissioner for Health, Honourable Ja’afaru Muhammad described the report as false. 

He explained that a twenty-seven year old NYSC corps member was admitted into the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi with fever, cough and pneumonic symptoms who was immediately attended to and responded to treatment. 

The Commissioner added that the person has no history of travel abroad, or met with anybody who travelled to foreign countries or any person suspected to have contracted the virus. 

Honourable Ja’afaru Muhammad further explained that the patient might be discharged today, Thursday, but in conformity with health regulations, the blood sample of the patient has been sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Abuja for analysis of which the result was being awaited. 

The Commissioner said this was done even though his level of sickness was not up to the condition of concern set by the centre.  He remarked that people in Kebbi State would be regularly informed about developments in connection with Coronavirus, COVID-19 by the taskforce.

The Chairman warned the citizenry against peddling fake news or disseminating untrue and unverified information on social media or in print and broadcast outfits.
