COVID-19 ALABA MARKET TRADERS LAMENT SKELETAL TRADING ACTIVITIES

The Alaba Market Traders in Lagos State has lamented the skeletal trading activities in the market saying the on and off opening of business transaction has led to poor turnover and hardship on the people. 

Speaking with the Oduduwa Correspondent, a leader in the market, Hon Udochukwu Mbonu said traders at the market were facing serious challenges due to the corona virus pandemic across the country. 

The Lagos State Government has earlier shut down markets, schools, event entres and other business premises in conjunction with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) directives of preventing the spread of the virus. 

He said the traders in the market were finding it difficult to feed their family adding that Governor of Lagos State should allow them to return back to the the normal five days trading activities.  

He pleaded with Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu to allow the traders to go back to full business, assuring him of strict compliance with the Covid-19 directives.

"We have ensured that there is regular hand washing,use of sanitizer, face mask and maintaining of social distancing within the market premises".

He thanked the Chairman of Ojo local government, Hon Olusola Rasulu Idowu for coming to the rescue of the people with necessary palliative when they needed it most. 

He promised regular routine check of the market by the task force to all shops in order to ensure adequate compliance with NCDC guidelines saying such will further prevent the spread of the virus
