GOVERNOR ATIKU BAGUDU OF KEBBI STATE IN ACTION, HOST NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF NLC, OTHERS

The preceding week has been very eventful for the ever charismatic Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu whose style of worthy-of-emulation leadership has earned recognition nationwide.

This is attested to by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, mni, during his courtesy visit to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, last Friday.

Comrade Ayuba Wabba described Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu as worker-friendly who has maintained good cordial industrial relations with civil servants and the labour movement.

On his part, the Governor acknowledged the prominence of the NLC in keeping Nigeria united indivisible entity which has been consistent in championing the interest of Nigeria workers.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu informed his guest that his administration has implemented the minimum wage as well as protected rights and privileges of workers.

In a different scenario, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave approval for the establishment of a task force on drugs control in Kebbi state under the chairmanship, of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Umar Ambursa.

The committee has since conducted a training workshop for secondary school teachers during which the chairman indicated intention of members to embark on periodic visits to schools to strengthen the campaign against substance abuse among students.

Likewise, the Kebbi State Epidemic response team was at the Government House to intimate the governor about present situation in cholera outbreak in the state.

Leader of the team, the Permanent Secretary, and Chief Medical Director, CMD, of Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza, disclosed that, regrettably, one hundred and forty six deaths have been recorded across the state arising from the epidemic.

He advised people to strictly observe personal and environmental hygiene as well as avoid open defecation as precaution against cholera.

Elsewhere, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was among the unprecedented crowd of eminent personalities and people from all walks of life who attended the grandise wedding of three daughters of a traditional title holder in Gwandu Emirate, Alhaji Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, last Saturday.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu led a large delegation of top government functionaries to witness the holy matrimony held at the private-residence of Alhaji Nasir Idris, in Birnin Kebbi, who is the National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, and Deputy National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu served as Waliy (guardian) to Balkisu Nasir Idris who gave out her hand in marriage to Yahaya Buhari Ali on the payment of fifty thousand naira dowry. 

In the same vein, Fatima Nasir Idris was joined in holy matrimony with Nafi’u Bello Haruna, on payment of fifty thousand naira dowry while the same amount was paid for the wedlock between Naja’atu Nasir Idris and her groom, Usman Sani Hukuma Zauro. Afterwards, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu proceeded to the Abdullahi Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi to witness the wedding of Engineer Farouk Sanusi Umar and Zainab Ahmad Farouk, daughter to Farouk A.U Ahmad, Director of Safety, Electronics and Engineering Services with the Nigerian Air Space Management Agency (NAMA) of Federal Ministry of Aviation.

The Chief Host and Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, also received a first class monarch from Yobe state, the Mai Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman who was at the palace to partake in the Islamic ordained function of marriage.

Last Thursday, Kebbi State joined other parts of the world in celebrating this year’s International Youth Day.

The commissioner for Youths and Sports, Alhaji Gidado Kaliel, affirmed the commitment of incumbent administration of Governor Abubakar Bagudu to giving necessary encouragement and support to youths to excel in all fields of human endeavour.

The commissioner commended youths in the state for their, support and cooperation to the government.
