KEBBI GOVERNOR DISTRIBUTES SEEDLINGS TO FARMERS

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, says his administration will sustain empowerment of farmers in all fields to boost their capital capacity as well as uphold implementation of environmental policy for better living condition.

The Governor announced this at the flagging-off of distribution of economic trees seedlings comprising of Mango, Pawpaw, banana, date palm, moringa, guava, orange and cashew to serve as profitable venture and reinforce the fight against desert encroachment.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, the Governor said distribution of the seedlings would enhance prevalence of green environment for better habitation and enhance economic fortunes of farmers. 

The seedlings are being distributed to all the twenty-one local government areas of the state for onward distribution to farmers and other beneficiaries to plant and nurture to maturity.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu requested the Ministry of Environment to expedite action on the distribution of the seedlings, urging beneficiaries to utilize them judiciously.

He commended the ministry for its insight and consistent action in nurturing plants towards making the environment habitable.

In his address the State Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals Development, Alhaji Hayatu Bawa Jega, thanked the Governor for empowering the ministry to acquire and distribute the economic trees seedlings free to farmers.

The commissioner requested the government to employ more forest rangers to protect forest reserves now being violated by charcoal makers.
