Gombe NSCDC Assures Residents of Hitch Free Easter, Ramadan

The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has assured the residents of the state of hitch free Easter celebration and peaceful Ramadan, saying the Command has put every necessary security check in place. 

Speaking at the Command Headquarter in Gombe, the State Commandant, Waziri Abba Goni disclosed that over 700 officers of the Command has been trained in Counter-Terrorist with sole aim of dealing with any case of insurgent in Gombe State. 

The Commandant said the Corps is playing a vital role in ensuring the lives and property of residents are safe, adding that the Command has doubled its  efforts most especially at this Easter and Ramadan period.

He further stressed that, all the black spots and red zone in the state have been taken care of by his men, saying no hide out for criminals in the state. 

His words: ' We have arrested 116 youths living under one roof which is a security risk. The State Government has taken drastic steps of returning them to their respective states which is commendable. We can't take any risk of harbouring youths with no identity or job specification".

Commandant Goni noted that, every security measures have been put in place in ensuring both the Muslim and Christian enjoy peaceful Ramadan and Easter celebrations. "Our Command is always at alert and alive to its responsibility whenever there is an emergency situations".

He also reiterated the commitment of the Corps of ripping the state of political miscreants who may disturb the peace of the state. " We are leaving no stone unturned in preventing political crisis as 2023 election is around the corner ".

The Commandant commended the cordial relationship between the Corps and other sister agencies in the state, saying the synergy has really yielded positive results in the fight against crime in Gombe State. 

While thanking the state government for being supportive to the Command, he said the major challenges facing the Corps is logistics which he knows that authority will definitely look into. " In terms of Manpower, we have a lot of trained officers in Special Squad, Counter-Terrorist among other squads".
