President Muhammadu Buhari has promised his administration’s assistance to victims of natural disasters across the country describing the damages recorded as beyond imagination.


Speaking at the palace of Emir of Katsina during his visit to the victims of rain and wind storm in Katsina, Buhari said the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA will carry out assessment of damages recorded from the incident. 

He said, the devastation recorded was alarming as Buildings that were 30, 40, 50 years old, were blown out while in Bauchi to commiserate with the people of the state.

He assured that relevant government agencies will carry out assessment and see what intervention and assistance it can render. 

The state Governor Aminu Masari put the losses recorded close to N2.3b noting that the administration has so far expended about N200m to fix some public structures like schools that were damaged from the first incidence.

In his remarks, the emir of Katsina, Abdulmumin Kabir Usman commended the President for his concern to the downtrodden and pray for his success. 

It could be recalled that about six persons died during the rainstorm just as 400 households were lost during the disaster.
