About 80 Americans Killed In Iran's Retaliatory Missiles Attack On US Military Base

Iranian state television has said 80 people were killed late Tuesday -- in the missile offensive against two military bases holding US troops in Iraq.

The attack came only days after Iran's top military commander General Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US airstrike inside Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.

Pentagon is yet to release official reports about any US casualities but the Iraqi government has since confirmed there was no casualities from its side.

President Trump tweeted in reaction to the retaliation that  "All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning(Wednesday)."

The Iranian authority had repeatedly vowed to retaliate the killing of its second most powerful officer describing the operation ordered by President Donald Trump as an act of war and "state terrorism."

A total of 22 missiles were launched overnight by the Iranian military.

“At least 80 American military (personnel) were killed in this attack,” the state television website reported.

In addition, it said, unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters and other military equipment had been severely damaged in the attack.

Iranian Revolutionary Guards source cited in the report said at least 140 targets of the US and their allies had been identified in the region and would be attacked “if the Americans commit any kind of mistake again”.

The source said 15 missiles hit Ain Al-Assad base and none was intercepted by “radars of America’s terrorist army”.

It was the first action of Iran’s promised revenge for the US killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in Iraq last week.
