Oto Awori Youth Day:Way Of Celebrating Youth-Oloto

The Kabiesi, Oba Josiah  Olanrewaju Aina Ikuyemiku, the Oloto of Oto Awori Kingdom, said the celebration of Otto Awori Youth Day was a product of an  agreement he had with the youth of his  kingdom, as a way of  celebrating them annually.

 Oto-Awori is a  suburban community and a local government development council area located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Ojo local government area of Lagos State, inhabited by the Awori tribe sub-ethnic group of the Yoruba people.

Oto Awori youth celebration is an annual event holding every January 3, where cultural heritage of the kingdom are being showcase and youth talents are being promoted.

The traditional ruler in an interview with the correspondent of Oduduwawatch,  during the 2020 Oto Awori Youth Day, described the  annual event as a way of ensuring the descendants of the kingdom, especially the youth were being brought closer the throne.

"Many of the sons and daughters of this kingdom are always been scared of coming close to the Royal majesty.

"Due to this,few years after I was enthroned as the Oloto of Oto Awori, I decided to bring them close to the Royalty in orders for them to have the sense of belonging and also to build a better life for the youth," he said.

Oba Ikuyemiku expressed his joy that the youth day had brought improvement on the economy of the Community, while the youths are being exposed for progress,  better way of life and unity among one another.

The Oloto of Oto Awori kingdom added that seeing the youth around him gave him joy and happiness, saying empowering the youth is the priority of his kingship.

 

Ikuyemiku urged  youth of the community, both at home and abroad to be law abiding.

He also advised them to be proud of their cultural heritage and the moral attitude in every day of their lives, wherever they found themselves.

Oba Ikuyemiku noted that the 2020 Awori Youth Day celebration was the 7th edition adding that  Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, a Nigerian Fuji Music Legendary, has been their guest artist all through the years.
