COVID-19:ALABA ALLIED TRADERS ASSOCIATION SEND SOS TO SANWO -OLU

 

  The Chairman of Allied Traders Association at Alaba Market in Ojo Local Government of Lagos State, Hon Muhammad Buba has appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reverse to the old trading hours and days in the market saying the on and off business transactions in the market is having a hard time on them. 

He stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lagos, adding that the need to sent save our soul to the governor became necessary as their businesses are gradually collapsing.

Hon Buba said the closing hours of business on the days the government allows them to open business is too short thereby leading to grindlock as everybody want to meet up with the closing hour of 3pm.

He said in the processing of meeting up with the government stipulated time for closure of business, the social distancing guidelines of NCDC were broken making the government effort of preventing the spread of the virus a counter productive. 

He requested that the market should be allowed to open from Monday to Friday saying giving them time of opening and closing of business is more better than on and off trading approved by the government. 

He acknowledged the Police, Task Force and the Civil Defence for being proactive in crowd control and also ensure they make use of face mask and hand sanitizer when and where necessary. 

 He commended the  the Local Government Chairman Of Ojo for having the welfare and interest of the traders of the Alaba market at heart by giving palliatives to the people during the lock down and also providing nose mask and sanitizers for their use. 

"With the joint task force of the 15 sections of the market, palliative was given to us by the local government of Ojo and I ensured that it got to the 15 sections of the market. We were given almost 6,000 nose masks and hand sanitizer.

"We believe in our businesses and so we plead that the Governor Babajide Sanwoolu should please consider us and relax the day on and off and  allow us open for five days in a week".

He assured the government that the market will ensure strict compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines of hand washing and use of hand sanitizer, use of face  masks, maintaining social distancing and maintenance of proper hygiene.
