NUPENG HOLDS QUARTERLY MEETING AHEAD OF 2022

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG this Saturday held its last quarterly meeting in Abuja.

The quarterly meeting was organised to make appropriate decision and evaluate the union's activities for the year 2021; and to strategically prepare for the next year activities.

Speaking with the newsmen immediately after the meeting, Comr. (Otunba)Salimon Akanni Oladiti, the National Chairman, NUPENG said that the union has remained the articulator of the Nigerian economy and reiterated that the union would continue doing what know best to do. 

"We are only the carriers of the Petroleum products, by the time federal government provides the products we lift it and carry it to various destinations without delay" he claimed.

While responding to the question threw at him on  proposed increase in the prices of the Petroleum products as announced by the federal government, Comr. Oladiti declared that: "it is left for Nigerians to decide".

However, he used the occasion to extend his season greetings to all Nigerians by wishing them Merry Christmas and prosperous New year ahead with message of hope that year 2022 is hopeful.

"Nothing bad will happen next year by the grace of God" he stressed.

Also speaking from the NUPENG angle, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja said the union remained the only organized labour that fights not only for its membership but for the interest of the country. 

He cited recent agitation of the union when made popular demand from the federal government to repair major roads across the federation. According to him, this has led to the disbursement of#621b in September by the NNPC to commence the rehabilitation of the critical roads.

Speaking on the proposed removal of subsidy by the federal government, Hon. Akinlaja said that subsidy was not in the interest of the common man on the street.
