Governor Bagudu Visits IDP Camps;Promises Possibilities of Returning Home Soon

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has assured displaced persons IDPS in various camps as a result of bandit attacks in villages and towns about the possibility of returning to their homes soonest as security measures have been provided by federal and Kebbi state government to resettling them.

The governor gave the glad tidings in Waje Town, Danko/Wasagu Local Government, Zuru Emirate, while addressing hundreds of persons including women and children from nine towns and villages. 

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in an emotional tone condoled and sympathize with them on the loss of lives and others kidnapped by bandits who infiltrated from neighbouring Zamfara state, assuring that, measures have been put in place to safeguard them to enable them relocates home and go back to their farms.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who interacted with the affected persons also sought to hear from village heads in the area, and was told that apart from the lost of lives, foodstuffs and livestock were also destroyed while some village heads were taken away by the bandits.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his support and provision of weaponry including fighter aircrafts to patrol areas, across the affected states and urged Nigerians not to lose hope and continue to pray for an end to the criminality.

The Governor thanked security agencies, vigilantes, traditional rulers, volunteer groups popularly known as Yan Sakai as well as community leaders for their effort towards curtailing the trend.

Before his departure, Governor Atiku Bagudu provided an immediate relief assistance of food items and financial support as well as directed all affected local government councils SEMA and well to do individuals to make similar gesture.

In a remark, the Senator Representing Kebbi South, Senator Bala Ibn Na-Allah advocated for coordination among security operatives and information sharing to route out bandits.

He said the federal government has taken necessary security strategies to tackling the problem, and extended his condolences and sympathy to victims and families of the deceased.

The Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, Alhaji Mukhtar Musa Wasagu and all the village heads of the displaced villages called for deployment of more security personnel to the localities to enable them go back to their homes.

They commended the Governor for his quick response and personal visit to the area.The Local Government Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Sharu provided list of the displaced persons and their villages.

The village heads urged the governor to intervene to rescue their colleagues kidnapped by the bandits.

The villages include, Ragan, Morai, Warkata, Wadaku, Dankade, Yar-Kuka, Gaya, Ayu and Unashi.

The governor also visited the Emir of Zuru in his palace for similar condolence.

In response, the Emir retired Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for taking prompt measures to assist the displaced persons assuring that traditional rulers remain absolutely loyal to the government.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu also paid a visit to the 223 Light Tank Battalion Zuru where two soldiers lost their lives in combat duty and provided financial support to the families of the deceased as well as police officer killed by the bandits.

In the course of the visit to Zuru, the Governor inspected a multi-million naira office complex provided by Senator Ibn Na’Allah for legionnaires, where he expressed happiness about the kind gesture.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by the state, Commissioner of Police Musa Baba, Director of State Security Service, Bashir Dawaki, Umar Bala State Commandant of Nigeria Civil Defence, Commanding Officer 223 Light Tank Battalion Zuru, Lt. Col. Peter Omini, Security Adviser retired Major Garba Rabi’u Kamba, Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Sifiyanu Garba Bena and the member House of Assembly, Danko/Wasagu West Constituency Abdullahi Danjuma
