MUHAMMAD DIRISU ISAH in his message this morning said, Today is the day Nigeria celebrates its birthday, as an independent, sovereign country. And that is why I want to congratulate all Nigerians on this well-deserved holiday.     Our Independence Day is more than just a holiday. It is a day to remind ourselves of how far we have come and how much we have done. It is a day of unity and togetherness.  

Freedom does not come so easily. 

We are indebted to our national heroes who fought and laid down their lives for the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our country as an independent nation deserves to be remembered. As patriotic citizens, let’s put extra effort to perform our own civic rights and responsibilities. Our diversities should not be seen as a weakness but as our strength. It is only by working together that we can build a resilience nation.  

2019 general elections is fast approaching and I urge us all to vote wisely.  As a nation, we need good leaders who we all can trust, the kind of leaders who always put public interests above their political and personal interests, so that the yearnings and aspirations of the commoners can be realized.

As we remember our national heroes today, let’s renew our pledge to always uphold our national unity so that we can live together in peace and harmony. Happy Independence Day!!!
