AKINYEYE BAGS LIVING HERO OF LEADERSHIP AWARD OF THE YEAR

 The Eighth Federal Mines Officer in charge of the Ministry of Solid  Minerals  Development,Ondo State and the Vice Chairman,Ondo State  Forum of Federal Government Establishment and Institutions,Engr Olajide Akinyeye  has bagged Life Value Awareness and Leadership Secure Initiative (LIVALSI) 2023 Face of Living Hero of Leadership, Distinguished Noble and Humanitarian Service Per Excellence award of the year .

Akinyeye, a Member of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers was decorated and received the notable award on 2 October 2023, at his Office in the Federal Secretariat, Akure, Ondo State capital. 

Founder and Team President of LIVALSI, Comrade Oladipo Musibau Aberuagba while presenting the award described Engr. Akinyeye as a mining Engineer who has made significant importance to the Mining Industry in Ondo State, Nigeria and the World at large.

In his speech, Aberuagba said, "We are very delighted to address this salient gathering of the effort-breaking event of conferment of Living Hero of Leadership and Distinguished Noble and Humanitarian Services Per Excellence Award of the year 2023 Engineer, Olajide Akinyeye. The Federal Mining Officer in charge of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in Ondo State, we were honouring today earned this award through his personality traits and other qualities he embraced as value in his field as well as his dedication and commitment to the growth of the mining sector in Nigeria" He said. 

"Being the First Mining Engineer in Nigeria to decorate with this honour for being an exemplary Mentor to the others in the field and fighter against illegal mining in Ondo State and Nigeria; we want to admonish you not to relent on the good works, Aberuagba urged."

Reacting to the recognition, Engr.  Akinyele said,  "I want to thank the Management of LIVALSI for the good work you are doing in Nigeria by recognizing people before they passed on 'Face of Living Hero'. I used to have a Boss who said don't make yourself a Hero because heroes have been seen after they went".
 
"We thank you for talking about Living Hero at the same time; I want to thank my colleagues in this office because their actions speak for us. This award is because of your contribution to the Mining Sector being a regulator to the mining industry of Nigeria's economy of which Ondo State played y fantastic role, He stated."

"The coming down of illegal mining it as a result of your competence, diligence and integrity you people prostrated as mining Inspectors. I am only Manager of men they are the ones doing the good works" Akinyeye added.

Engr. Akinyeye Olajide Edward, an Indigene of Idanre was born in 1964 to the Family of then Sasere of Idanre Kingdom, Late High Chief John Akinyeye. He attended Aquinas College Akure and proceeded to The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti and the Federal University of Technology Akure to bag his Higher National Diploma and Degrees in Mining Engineering respectively. Akinyeye joined the Federal Civil Service in the then Ministry of Mines and Power now known as the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. 
He also worked around Six Geopolitical Zones of Nigeria as a Federal Mining Officer in charge of the state offices and also worked in not less than 30 States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory.
Akinyeye is a distinguished figure in the mining industry, whose dedication and expertise have consistently driven the sector forward. His commitment to sustainable mining has been exemplary in his past 32 years of service.
Meanwhile, in  1988, Akinyeye did a strong memo to the then Military Governor of Old Ondo State, Comm. Olabode Ibiyinka George on the importance of setting up a mining unit in the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industries. A task he followed up to fruition in May 1989, the unit is now an active Ministry under the administration of this current Governor of the State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.  As a visionary leader, Akinyeye has been instrumental in fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the mining communities. His mentorship and willingness to empower the next generation of mining professionals have earned them respect and admiration across the industry.
He is a member of these professional organizations, the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG), the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) and the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers. 
 "My Colleagues this honour is for all of us. It is an impetus for us to do more because we deserve this award" Akinyeye urged.
